BOOKING TERMS & CONDITIONS
By Booking with The Hostel, Airlie Beach, you agree to be bound by the following Terms & Conditions. We may revise these Terms & Conditions from time to time and will update our website to reflect these revisions.
- Bookings will be confirmed instantaneously, with your preferred payment method debited according to the accommodation style and rate selected for the booking.
- Bookings made via our booking partners (e.g. Booking.com) will need to be cancelled directly with the booking partner. The Hostel is not able to refund a booking on the agents behalf.
- A pre-authorisation will be taken at check-in time (2pm) for all guests ($50 for bed for dormitory bookings, $150 per private room.) The amount is held on the guest’s account and will be released after check-out is finalised, the room has been cleaned and guests actions have adhered to our policies.
Best Available Rate (Flexible) are:
- Charged 24 hours prior to your reservation. This will occur automatically and be deducted from the Credit Card provided at time of booking.
- Unable to be transferred to a third party.
- Fully-flexible including cancellations up to 24 hours prior to check-in time. If cancellation is made within 24 hours of booking, 100% of booking fee will be charged.
- Refundable if cancelled at least 24 hours prior check-in time. Please allow 7-10 business days for refund processing. All refunds, without exception, will be deposited to the original Credit Card provided at time of booking.
- Charged in full in case of no-show.
Non-refundable bookings are:
- Charged in full at time of booking and non-refundable.
- Unable to be transferred to a third party.
- Charged in full in case of no-show.
Other Terms & Conditions of Stay
- Reception hours are from 9am-12pm & 1pm-6pm, if you are arriving outside of these hours, please contact reception ahead of your arrival to make alternate arrangements & proceed with online check-in.
- Photo ID is required at check-in.
- The Hostel Airlie Beach is a smoke-free/Vape free environment. Smoking or Vaping is not permitted anywhere on the property. Fees applies
- The Hostel Airlie Beach has a No Party Policy on the property. We maintain a quiet and respectful atmosphere. Excessive noise, yelling, alcohol in rooms or “party” gatherings are strictly prohibited.
- Guests must be 18 years or older, unless accompanied by a responsible guardian, and may not stay in shared accommodation. Age verification will be required at check-in. Guests who do not meet the age requirement will be denied check-in and will forfeit their booking and any payments made.
- Any form of harassment, discrimination, or aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated. All guests are required to always comply with our
- Only current in-house guests are permitted on the property, no visitors.
- The Hostel Airlie Beach is a private enterprise and it’s management reserves the right to refuse entry or accommodation to any person/s without having to state any reason.
- Female dorms are strictly for women only. No men may enter, except staff members. If a male guest books a female-only dorm, they will not be permitted to check in and no refund will be issued. For booking and check-in purposes, the Hostel relies on the sex designation shown on government-issued identification.
- Guests who extend their stay or make additional bookings (including through third-party websites such as Booking.com) are not guaranteed to remain in the same room or bed, even if the same room type has been booked.
Guests must receive confirmation from Reception if they are permitted to stay in the same room. Unless Reception has explicitly confirmed that the guest may remain in the same room, the guest must follow the standard check-out procedure on their original check-out date. If the room is not vacated by 10:00 am, our late check-out policy will apply and additional fees may be charged. - Tampering with, disabling, or interfering with any fire alarms or safety equipment is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate eviction and potential fees of up to $2,000.
Breach of booking terms & conditions / House rules: Any violation of these terms or hostel rules may result in immediate eviction without warning, no refund will be issued for the remaining duration of the booking, the guest will no longer be permitted to return to the property and fees may apply. By booking with us, guests acknowledge that they have read, understood, and will comply with our Booking Terms & Conditions, Guest Code of Conduct and policies, available on our website or at reception.
Fees & Penalties: Additional fees may apply in the following circumstances:
- Loss or damage: Charges will apply for any damage to property, furnishings, or equipment (amount to be determined by the hostel based on the extent of the damage), or for lost keys ($50)
- Smoking: A $250 fee will be charged for smoking anywhere on the property.
- Extra cleaning fees: If a room/common area requires extra cleaning beyond standard housekeeping, an additional fee will apply.
- Lock out fees: Guest must have they room key with them at all time. If guest called outside reception opening hours to get their door open a $80 Fee will apply
- Late check-out: No late check-out allowed $50 fees in case of late checkout and additional fees can apply for prolonged occupancy or disruptions to hostel operations. All belongings MUST be out of the room and key MUST be returned by 10am on check out day.
- Visitors in rooms: Guests are not allowed to bring non-registered visitors into their rooms. Any violation will incur a minimum fee of $50 per person.
Group Booking Terms & Conditions
Making a group booking is conditional upon there being sufficient capacity at the property to accommodate the booking and the booking being accepted by The Hostel Airlie Beach.
At the time of booking, a physical credit card and a designated group leader will be required.
An initial deposit will be charged on the physical credit card, according to our payment schedule as described below.
Payment Schedule
- At time of booking: A non-refundable deposit in an amount equal to 10% of the total expected revenue must be paid upon confirmation
- No later than 30 days prior to arrival date: A further deposit must be paid to bring the total deposits paid to 50% of the total expected revenue
- No later than 15 days prior to arrival date: The remaining balance must be paid to bring the total amount paid to 100% of the total expected revenue.
If these payments are not received on time, The Hostel reserves the right to cancel booking, retaining all previously paid funds as a cancellation fee.
Refunds and Cancellations
In the case that you need to cancel part of the total of your booking, the following cancellation policies will apply:
- At least 31 days prior to arrival date: The Hostel Airlie Beach is entitled to retain the initial deposit, or an amount equal to 10% of the total expected revenue
- Between 30 and 15 days prior to arrival date: The Hostel Airlie Beach is entitled to retain an amount equal to 50% of the total expected revenue.
- Less than 15 days prior to arrival date: The total expected revenue is payable in full.
Group numbers
- Final group numbers are required at least 15 days prior to arrival date.
- Any increase in numbers at any stage will be treated as an additional request. We will do our best to accommodate additional requests, but cannot guarantee availability.
- If there is a decrease in group numbers of more than 10% of the total amount, the above cancellation fees will apply – unless it is within 14 days of arrival. In this case, there will be no refund.
Notice of Liability
The designated group leader must agree to ensure that their group will abide by The Hostel Airlie Beach requirements listed below, and any reasonable instructions made by the Property Manager or hostel staff.
The designated group leader must undertake:
- To accept responsibility for proven damage or loss caused by the group to property occupancy, building, equipment including safety and security systems.
- To recompense The Hostel for any such loss or damage, including refunds to other guests that cannot be accommodated as the result of or related to serious group misbehaviour.
- To abide by the conditions of payment for a booking, including the cancellation policy as detailed above.
- To ensure that any children in the group are supervised at all times. Children must be supervised in public areas.
- To agree that The Hostel does not accept responsibility for accidents which may occur to any group member, or for any damage of theft of property whilst staying in, or using The Hostel facilities.
- Not to drink alcohol excessively at the property. If members of the group are under 18, to agree not to bring alcohol on the property premises or to return to the premises in an intoxicated state. Leaders are particularly responsible for ensuring any group member under 18 years of age abides by The Hostel’s policies barring smoking and consumption of alcohol.
- To ensure the group does not interfere with or block access to any of the fire equipment or services throughout the building including smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and fire exits.
General Obligations
The Hostel Airlie Beach undertakes to provide the agreed services at the agreed times by the Property. This obligation does not apply under circumstances beyond the control of The Hostel such as:
- If the group does not arrive
- If the group fails to pay the deposit or balance on time
Additional Provisions
- Standard property policies will be clearly displayed or made available to all guests within the property. Group members are expected to comply with such property policies.
- A bond may be required from group guests – at the Property Manager’s direction.
- The Hostel Airlie Beach reserves the right, at all times, and without prior notice, to stop accommodating if one or more group members contravenes property policies. No refunds will be given in these circumstances.
Cancellation by The Hostel
The Hostel Airlie Beach reserves the right to terminate a booking without any obligation to pay compensation if there is sufficient cause to believe that the nature of the group’s meeting at the property is different than could reasonably have been expected, based on the group’s request or on the character of the group, and that The Hostel would not have entered into the agreement had it known the true nature of the intended meeting. Should The Hostel choose to exercise this right after such meeting has commenced at the Property, the group’s payment for the services rendered to that point will be retained and the balance paid will be refunded.
